Sunday afternoon, while playing tennis, I started having stomach cramps. I didn’t think too much of it, but shortly after we got home, food smells started making me queasy, I got the chills, and the cramps got worse. I won’t go into all the details about what transpired next. If you’ve ever had a stomach bug, you already know the story.
I took to my bed and slept as much of the evening and night as I was able. I called in sick to work Monday and spent the entire day in bed, sleeping for most of it. I roused myself for a couple of hours in the evening so I would not be up all night. Tuesday was a big day at work that I really did not have the option to miss.
So here I am today at the office, not making much sense and not at all sure I should be here today. I ate a few saltines at breakfast time and they are not sitting well. Just the thought of people eating their lunches in our open work space is already making me a little woozy. And from 1:30 to 5:00, I have a commitment that will require my game face as well as my brain to be firing on all synapses. I feel a little like Dory from “Finding Nemo.” Just keep swimming.
