The specialist assigned to me asked a few questions about my skin care regimen (which is washing my face in the shower using the same bar of soap I use to wash my armpits), my skin type, and any issues I would like addressed at our facial session. She then showed me the proper way to wash my face, removing all my makeup using a natural product that smelled like cucumbers, and then applied a mask that made my feel instantly youthful and moist. While my face mask was working its magic, she set to work on my hands, using more pleasantly and naturally scented products that that truly made my hands look and feel younger.
Unbeknownst to me, every time I made a positive comment about a product, my consultant was placing it in a basket that bore my name. At the end of the party, my basket had hundreds of dollars of products I would never have time to use. I politely purchased a couple of my favorites. I really did feel pampered and just a little bit younger as we left the shop.
Colleen and I decided to celebrate with margaritas and tacos at a bustling new restaurant down the block. We settled in at the bar, admiring each other's glowing skin, and enjoyed our margaritas and some delicious chips and guacamole. We shared our experience with the bartender, and she shared some of her own stories with us. We asked for a second margarita while we perused the taco menu; however the second drink never materialized. We finally flagged the bartender over to remind her, convinced she had just gotten busy and forgot. She informed us that her manager had requested she cut us off. Now I have definitely been in a situation where I should have been cut off. This was not that situation. We asked to meet the manager, who had never spoken to us prior to making this vibe-killing decision. When he arrived, we asked him his basis for judgement. He told us our eyes were saggy. That’s the moment we lost our youthful glow.
