It started with a tickle in my throat, as though I had swallowed a bug. By the time I left the office, I had an official sore throat. And by the time I slogged through traffic, I arrived home with chills, aches, and a headache.
I took the dog on a chilly walk, my teeth chattering and muscles aching. I headed to bed early, after a bowl of canned chicken soup, but sleep eluded me. It felt as though I had swallowed a large wad of cotton or a ping pong ball. Each time I fell asleep, I would wake myself up with a loud snore. I spent a miserable night watching old movies and waking up to infomercials.
I am home sick today. Not feeling much like writing a blog entry. Still achy and it hurts to take a deep breath. The dog, however, is in ecstasy, curled up in the curve of my leg. Though I know he doesn’t want me to be sick, he does like the stillness and the warm body it brings.
WebMD lists the same symptoms for a cold or a flu. How do I know if this is a flu or a run of the mill virus? I guess only time will tell. But for now, I will devote my full attention to drinking fluids and providing a calm bed for my sweet canine companion.
