Slice of Life Challenge Day 11
After a stressful morning, I went kayaking on our neighborhood lake with some friends. Two of us on a double kayak; one on a sleek and speedy single. We doublers could simply not keep up with our friend who seemed to glide along the lake with a lot of speed and very little effort. We had trouble coordinating our rowing, banging paddles along the way, laughing and completely unable to get the boat to go where we wanted.
The three of us stopped mid-way to enjoy a cider beverage, chat and enjoy the gorgeous, sunny day. We laughed, relaxed, floated. And when we drifted too close to the dam, we decided to head in a different direction, paddling aimlessly against the wind. Our pleas to our speedy friend to wait up were not heard over the leaf blowers and other power tools being employed along the lake and she paddled towards home. We aimless rowers, unable to catch up, decided to stop, have another cider beverage, and drift some more in the sun.
Another day, I may have been frustrated at the inability to make forward progress. I would have hated the feeling of being out of control. But today, those feelings were exactly what I needed.
